Q. Who is Waycrowd?

Waycrowd is a regional Crowdfunding platform (CFP) with operations in worldwide. It is one of the longest running and largest SE. Asia CFPs with over 17k members (As of Oct. 2015) and has facilitated more than 300 fundraisers to date. The team is comprised of experienced crowdfunding practioners with hands-on experience with backgrounds from top finance and technology firms.

Q. What is Equity Crowdfunding (ECF) ?

ECF is a new way to use the internet and social media to efficiently connect businesses trying to raise funds and investors looking to invest in promising new Startups and Small-Medium Size Businesses (SMEs).

Q. What are the intended benefits of Equity Crowdfunding (ECF) for Startups and SMEs ?

For Startups, ECF aims to provide a simpler and better way to Fundraise online. Simpler, because you can leverage a standardized template to configure your fundraising documents; Better as you can now leverage the full power of the internet such as digital and social media to market and PR your fundraising activities to raise Investor awareness and encourage their participation.

Q. What are the intended benefits of Equity Crowdfunding (ECF) for Investors ?

For Investors, ECF aims to provide a more transparent and diversified approach to early stage investing. Each Offer will have a QA section where prospective Investors with different backgrounds, expertise and knowledge can post questions and comments about the investment opportunity. Depending on the minimum investment size of the Offers that Investors are assessing, Investors can potentially spread their Investments across multiple Investment opportunities hence diversifying their portfolio.

Q. What is an Issuer?

An Issuer is a corporation or venture capital fund which is seeking to raise funds online through Waycrowd's platform. All Issuers must comply with Waycrowd's Membership Agreement and are vetting before launching Offers.

Q. Who is eligible to become an Issuer?

A Sendirian Berhad (private limited company) incorporated in Malaysia or a Venture Capital Fund registered with the Securities Company of Malaysia. For more details, please read through our Issuer membership agreement.

Q. What is an Offer?

An Offer is the fundraising conducted by an Issuer including business case, financials, investment documents and other information which may be required by Waycrowd.

Q. Who can become an Investor?

All types of Investors from Venture Capital Funds, Institutional Investors, Angel Investors to Retail Investors can Invest. For more details, please review Waycrowd's Investor Membership Agreement.

Q. Does Waycrowd review each Offer before it is published?

Yes. Each submitted Offer will need to undergo business and technical due diligence conducted by the Waycrowd Team and its Partners before being published on the platform. However, this review is not meant to recommend the investablity of the business or guarantee Investment returns. Each Investor will need to make their own investment decision.

Q. Does Waycrowd review each Offer's Q&A / Update section?

Waycrowd does not review or approve the content in the Q&A / Updates section which accompanies Waycrowd Offers. These constitute "one-off communications" between Issuers and potential investors and should be treated as one-on-one conversations. It is the responsibility of an Issuer to monitor and respond to questions raised in their Q&A / Forum and respond to them accordingly. We are not able to remove Q&A / Updates content on request, however, we do reserve the right to remove any content in these sections that we consider spam, abuse or trolling.

Q. Does Waycrowd advise as to where to invest?

Waycrowd is not authorised to provide financial advice. While we confirm and approve all the information provided in each Offer, we do not make our own judgment about whether it's a good business. We believe that a large number of diverse investors are better suited to assess the business's prospects than a few professional managers.

Q. Is Waycrowd a fund?

No. When investors invest in a business through Waycrowd they invest solely in the single Offer that they've chosen. However, we occasionally make available Offers for individual venture capital funds registered with the Securities Commission of Malaysia looking to raise investment for a pool of known or to-be-selected businesses.

Q. Is Waycrowd authorised and regulated by the Securities Commission of Malaysia?

Yes. Waycrowd is registered with the Securities Commission of Malaysia as a Recognized Market Operator and allowed to operate a platform for Equity Crowdfunding.
